II Georgia Southwestern State is picked to finish ninth in the 14-team Peach Belt Conference coaches poll ... the Hurricanes were a preseason ninth place pick two years ago when they lost to Auburn 78-50 and Georgia Southwestern went on to win its division ... opening last season with a 12-4 record, the Hurricanes lost All-American Phillip Brown to injury and finished 12-14 overall, 3-14 in the conference ... senior Milos Kleut is the lone returning starter averaging 10.2 ppg last season ... the Hurricanes ranked third in the PBC with both 8.1 steals per game and a 64.4 ppg scoring defense last season ... after Monday's exhibition, Georgia Southwestern State opens the season at home against Fort Valley State on Friday.

Andre Malone scored 17 points and Rob Chubb added 12 as the Auburn Tigers breezed past Division II Georgia Southwestern, 78-50, Tuesday at the Auburn Arena.

Auburn's freshman quartet of Shaq Johnson (15), Jordan Price (13), Jordon Granger (13) and Brian Greene Jr. (2) combined for 43 of Auburn's 108 points and 19 of the Tigers' 26 assists in the exhibition game.

Johnson made all seven shots he attempted from the field, including one 3-pointer, to go along with three assists in 14 minutes.

Price went 2-of-4 from 3-point range to go along with three assists and three steals in 20 minutes.

Granger was 5-of-6 from the floor and had four rebounds, three steals and two blocks in 21 minutes.

Greene Jr. dished out a game-high 12 assists and had four steals in 26 minutes.

108 Points

Auburn scored 100 points for the first time since defeating Grambling 105-56 in Huntsville, Ala., 10 seasons ago on Nov. 29, 2003.

The 108 points scored were the most the Tigers have had since No. 6 Auburn defeated Div. II Puerto Rico-Mayaguez 109-52 in the San Juan Shootout first round on Dec. 20, 1999.
