AUBURN----Auburn senior guard DeWayne Reed was named to the Preseason Coaches All-SEC second-team, the Southeastern Conference office announced Monday. Reed was joined on the second team with Kentucky's John Wall, LSU's Tasmin Mitchell, Vanderbilt's A.J. Ogilvy and Ole Miss' Chris Warren. "It feels good to be named to the All-SEC team," said Reed. "I have worked hard and felt like I worked hard last season. I am ready for this year to come and hope to have a fun season." Reed averaged 13.2 points and 3.7 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals as a junior last year helping lead the Tigers to a 24-12 record (10-6 SEC). The Houston, Texas, native ranked third in the SEC in steals, sixth in assists and 17th in scoring. He averaged 16.0 points in three NIT games, helping Auburn advance to the quarterfinals. "It is a nice honor for DeWayne," Lebo said. "He was the most improved player in the league last year. We are relying on him a lot this year to be not only a good player, but a leader. He has made great strides offensively and defensively." Reed scored a career-high 23 points, making 5-of-10 three-pointers, vs. UT Martin in the NIT first round. He had 22 points (5-of-11 3fgs) at Kentucky, 22 points vs. Dayton and 21 points both at South Carolina and vs. Northern Iowa. Reed totaled 14 points, a season-high eight assists and three steals vs. Tennessee in the SEC Tournament.
