AUBURN - Auburn basketball senior guard DeWayne Reed won the AORTA 10th Annual Tough Two Mile Run for Breast Cancer Awareness Saturday in Auburn with a time of 11:19, edging teammate Lucas Hargrove, who finished third with a time of 11:31. For the fourth straight year, members of the men's basketball team ran in the race and were joined by the baseball and gymnastics teams.

"It felt good, and I didn*t do this to win, I did it for the cause we were running for," said Reed. "I thought Lucas was going to win, so I started to sprint at the end and caught him. I was in third place and pulled it out and turned it on.

"It felt good to see people out there to race for breast cancer. You could hear people cheering on the sidelines, and it was nice to see everyone smile."

Other members of the Tigers' basketball team finished with these times: Josh Wallace (12:46), Tay Waller (13:24), Frankie Sullivan (13:31), Andre Malone (13:32), Tony Neysmith (13:33), Larry Williams (13:54), Rob Chubb (14:00), Jake Drum (14:00), Kenny Gabriel (15:12), Earnest Ross (15:22) and Ty Armstrong (15:22).

Auburn opens preseason practice Oct. 16 and plays its only exhibition game Nov. 6 vs. Miles College. The Tigers open the season at home against 2009 NIT participant Niagara Nov. 13 at 8:30 pm as the second game of a doubleheader that begins with the Auburn women playing Troy at 6 pm.
