AUBURN -- The new era of Auburn Basketball featuring first-year head coach Tony Barbee begins with the season opener in the new Auburn Arena on Nov. 12 against UNC-Asheville as the Tigers' 2010-11 schedule was announced on Friday. Auburn will also host the three-day Global Sports Hoops Showcase from Nov. 19-21.

Auburn will play 11 games against 2010 postseason tournament teams, including home games against Tennessee, Florida, Vanderbilt, Florida State, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Jacksonville as well as road games at Kentucky and South Florida.

The Tigers play in the SEC-Big East Invitational in Pittsburgh's new Consol Energy Center on Dec. 11 as part of a doubleheader with Auburn playing Rutgers at 11:30 a.m. on ESPN2 followed by Tennessee vs. Pittsburgh. Auburn also plays at NIT participant South Florida on Dec. 15.

Auburn has four of the five games against NCAA Tournament teams at Auburn Arena against Tennessee, Florida, Vanderbilt and Florida State while playing at Kentucky. The six games against NIT teams include at South Florida, Mississippi State twice, Ole Miss twice and Jacksonville, the back-to-back Atlantic Sun Conference Champion.

Following the season opener, Auburn will play three games in its home tournament against Samford on Nov. 19, vs. Campbell on Nov. 20 and Middle Tennessee State on Nov. 21. The Tigers will play the second game of the doubleheader each day with Middle Tennessee State vs. Campbell, Samford vs. Middle Tennessee State and Campbell vs. Samford playing each other in the first game, respectively.

"We have the always challenging SEC schedule as well as some quality non-conference games," Barbee said. "It provides a difficult challenge for our young team, and one that we can grow from. The inaugural game in the Auburn Arena will be special as well as hosting a three-day tournament the second weekend of the season."

After a pair of exhibition games vs. West Alabama on Nov. 3 and Columbus State on Nov. 8 and the Nov. 12 season opener, Auburn plays host to Jacksonville on Nov. 27, Georgia Southwestern on Nov. 30 and Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Dec. 4. After the two-game swing against Rutgers in Pittsburgh and at South Florida, the Tigers close out pre-conference play with five straight home games against Presbyterian College on Dec. 18, USC-Upstate on Dec. 21, Georgia Southern on Dec. 29, Grambling on Dec. 31 and Florida State on Jan. 3.

A pair of former Auburn assistant coaches are bringing their teams to Auburn in Campbell head coach Robbie Laing and Georgia Southern head coach Charlton Young.

Auburn, which played LSU in the inaugural game in Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum history on Jan. 11, 1969, plays its league opener against LSU in the first SEC game in Auburn Arena on Jan. 8.

The Tigers then play two games on the road as Barbee's first SEC away game is at defending SEC Champion Kentucky and mentor John Calipari on Jan. 11 followed by a game at SEC Western Division favorite Mississippi State on Jan. 15.

Auburn will then play three SEC games in six days as it plays host to Florida on Jan. 20 and Alabama on Jan. 22 before a road game at Arkansas on Jan. 25. The Tigers close out the month at South Carolina on Jan. 29 and alternate home and road games the remainder of the February.
