AUBURN---Sophomore center Matt Heramb has been granted a release from his scholarship at Auburn University, head coach Jeff Lebo announced Friday.
Heramb appeared in 27 games this year and averaged 3.0 points, 1.4 rebounds in 9.9 minutes while shooting 52 percent from the field (30-of-58), 39 percent from 3-point range (7-of-18) and 93 percent from the foul line (14-of-15).
"Matt has been granted a release from his scholarship," Lebo said. "I appreciate what he has given to Auburn the past two years, and we wish him the best in the future," Lebo said.
The 6-foot-9 Douglasville, Ga., native scored a career-high 17 points at Alabama State on Nov. 16 after scoring 23 points all of his freshman season in 2006-07. Against Alabama State, he made 6-of-7 shots from the field, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range.
Heramb totaled 11 points and six rebounds in 20 minutes vs. Presbyterian and 10 points, four rebounds and three assists vs. Towson.
As a freshman in 2006-07, he averaged 1.8 points, 1.3 rebounds and shot
53 percent from the field (10-of-19).
