Auburn basketball senior center Asauhn Dixon-Tatum has been named to the 2014 SEC Men's Basketball Community Service Team, the league announced on Monday.
A native of Anderson, Ind., Dixon-Tatum was very active Auburn-Opelika community. He visited cancer patients and children at East Alabama Medical Center during the holidays and donated to SAAC's annual Toys for Tots drive. He also donated to the Auburn University school supply drive for underprivileged children in Lee County.
Dixon-Tatum was one of three Auburn University student-athletes selected to be a special guest at the Auburn University Women's Philanthropy Board Fall Luncheon commemorating 50 years of integration at Auburn University.
Dixon-Tatum also read to elementary school students and volunteers regularly to speak to children with the Little Tigers Program, a free basketball clinic for area residents.
This marks the 16th year for the SEC Community Service Team for men's basketball. All 21 league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004.
