AUBURN---Auburn will play Ole Miss in the SEC Tournament First Round on Thursday at 6:30 pm CT in New Orleans Arena.

The 10th-seeded Tigers and seventh-seeded Rebels split the season series and played 90 minutes of basketball with the margin being a combined eight points. Auburn (15-15, 5-11) defeated Ole Miss (18-12, 8-8) in Auburn Arena 69-68 in double overtime on Jan. 14 before the Rebels came back from an 11-point deficit with 15 minutes to play to defeat the Tigers 61-54 in Oxford on Feb. 11.

"We talk about the season being three phases, and we just finished the second one," said Auburn head coach Tony Barbee. "You have the non-conference play which is the first phase followed by conference play which is phase two, and now in phase three, no matter what you did all year long or no matter the type of team you were, records are thrown out the window. Crazier things have happened, and we have seen them in other leagues, and we have seen them in this league as recently as Georgia.

"What I know about my team is that we are going to go into New Orleans with a lot of confidence with a little bit of momentum. We have always talked about getting that win to get ourselves going in and what this team has proven all along, is that in this league we haven't gotten over the hump and beaten people, but we have played well against everybody in this league. We are going to into the conference tournament, no matter what the matchup, thinking we are going to go in and win the whole thing."

The Auburn-Ole Miss winner will play the No. 2 seed, either Florida or Tennessee, in Friday's second round at 6:30 pm CT. If the Gators defeat Kentucky on Sunday, then Florida is the No. 2 seed. A Gator loss to the Wildcats, then Tennessee is the No. 2 seed.
