AUBURN, Ala. — Basketball center Trayvon Reed has returned to Auburn and will begin individual workouts, but he won't play this season, coach Bruce Pearl said Thursday.
The 7-foot-2 player began classes Wednesday when the spring semester began. He was not on campus in the fall for what the school called personal reasons. Reed began playing for Auburn last season, seeing action in 23 games and averaging 1.1 points and two rebounds per game.
"It's good to have Trayvon Reed back with the program," Pearl said. "He will not play this year, but will begin training, individual workouts and focusing on his academics."
Auburn has been playing shorthanded throughout much of the season after injuries to guards Tahj Shamsid-Deen and T.J. Dunans. The Tigers will play Kentucky at 3 p.m. Saturday in Auburn Arena.
