Postgame Quotes vs Rhode Island

Recap |  Box Score |  Photo Gallery

Auburn Head Coach Tony Barbee

On the difference...

"A team that shoots 35 percent from the floor and scores 55 a game, that has not cracked 60 in five games, scored 80. That's the difference in the game."

On issues with the basketball...

"We had 19 turnovers to a team that pressed us maybe once or twice. We had 19 turnovers and those turnovers turned into 30 points for them. A team that struggles rebounding the ball outrebounds us, and 13 of their points come on second chance points. We have a long way to go."

On being able to fix problems quickly...

"I mean we have a week to prepare for DePaul, so the focus is going to be on us, because we have some major issues. We can't take care of the ball, sloppy with the ball, can't get into our offense, not efficient offensively, and we don't know what we're looking for. Defensively, we're just five separate guys out there trying to guard. We're not guarding as one, we're just five separate guys. We had more breakdowns on the defensive end of the floor. It's a disappointing loss, but we have a lot of season left."

On the past two weeks...

"We have to get a lot better than what we are right now."

On starting the experienced players in overtime...

"I didn't want to put the freshmen and those new guys into a position that they've never been put in before. I wanted to go with some guys that have been through the scars and been through the wars. I wanted those experienced guys out there in that time. We put ourselves in chance to win in overtime and then we didn't execute. We were up 3 with 7 seconds to go. We came out of timeout where we say that we're fouling as soon as they cross half court and we don't foul. There's your game. It would've been two seconds on the clock. We're up 3 and they're shooting two free throws. We didn't execute and it was my veteran group."

Auburn Player Quotes
Jordan Price, G, FR

On what the team needs to do to get better...

"Coach told us to look in the mirror and see like what we did right in the game or what our role is as a player as on the team. We just need to look in the mirror and reevaluate ourselves and come back to practice with the mindset of just getting better, and we need to focus more on our defensive sets at the end of the game and whatever our coach is telling us to do. We had a lot of breakdowns towards the end so we just need to focus on that."

On how far away Auburn is from being a good team...

"I feel like we're right there. We need to just buckle down and practice basically. We just need to get better."

On his performance tonight...

"My teammates, they were just finding me in the right spots, and I was just knocking them down. I'm just thankful for them to be able to find me."
