Post Game Quotes

Auburn Head Coach Jeff Lebo

Opening statement...
"I thought we did some good things tonight until the last eight minutes of the game. From that point, we kind of fatigued. We did not finish off the way we would have liked. We had too many turnovers. I thought we did a good job defensively during the first half. Quantez (Robertson) did a good job. He shoots them in and shoots them out, and when he gets going, he is as good as any other scorer that you will find. We had too many turnovers and some bad decision making, especially in the second half. Part of that was my fault. We found a way to win, and that is what is important."

On shooting...
"We needed to put the ball in the bucket. We shot well from the three finally, but we were nine-of-22 from the foul line. We lose so much from the foul line, it is incredible. We do a good job most of the time with getting the ball to where we want to go, but then we can not finish. We know that when we play on the road, that will not get it done."

On Boubacar Sylla...
"He hurt his ankle, and that will be evaluated. He did well while he was in, but he tries to do too much while dunking the ball. He wants to do too much of the spectacular, when he needs to do the simple. I hope he is all okay. We need him to play for us. Alabama State has got a pretty big guy that he will be able to play against."

On free throw shooting...
"I told myself today, that is up to the individual player. It is something they are going to have to work on. Part of it is confidence, but that is a hard thing to sit and watch. You have no control over it."

Frank Tolbert, Senior G

On getting the first win of the season ...
"It's big. We had a tough loss at Tulane so to come back and get a win at home lifts our spirits back up. We were all down after that game so to win is good for us."

On the 40.9% free throw shooting...
"We have to get in the gym and work harder. We need to stay after practice or shoot before practice. We need to shoot more free throws. It's all on the individual to get better."

Korvotney Barber, Junior F

On his shooting six-of-seven...
"I don't know what was going on with my hands tonight. I can make more shots, but I just have to catch the ball more, they were feeding me the ball, but I was just missing too many passes."

Kennesaw State Quotes

Head Coach Tony Ingle

On team performance...
"We dug a big hole for ourselves halfway through the second half. We had a nice rally thanks to Ronell (Wooten). He's amazing - just absolutely incredible. We were able to get some young guys in there for experience and now they have it. We had to gamble a little and it ended up helping Auburn's cause in the long run."

On forward Shuan Stegell sitting out the game...
"Not having Shuan on the court hurt us a lot. There's no question about that. It would have been nice to have him come in and score 20 points tonight but we can't control that."

On Auburn's defense...
"We threw a lot at Auburn offensively, but they responded very well and were able to pull away. Our hats are off to them. I'm proud of our team and the way they fought back late in the second half. We'll bounce back from this next game."

Ronell Wooten, Senior, F

On Kennesaw State's performance...
"We came out too slow in the first half. We gave up a lot of easy lay ups and gave up way too many rebounds. In the second half, I felt we came out and played a lot tougher. We showed a lot more hustle and I was proud of that."

On Auburn...
"They are a scrappy team and fight for every shot and rebound. They are also relentless on defense and execute very well. They made a lot of great passes and played great team basketball. Every player on that team has a lot of heart and it showed in the way they played."

On what Kennesaw State can learn from this game...
"The main thing we can learn is to always fight and never give up. If we do that, we will be able to beat a lot of teams this season. Also, we need to play much tougher on defense."

On his second half performance...
"I was just missing a lot of shots in the first half. At half time, Coach told me to settle down and put more arch in my shots, so that's what I did and it really worked."
