Recap |  Final Stats

Auburn Head Coach Jeff Lebo

"I thought that this was a tough game because they played the entire game in zone. We practiced for this all week on it. It is tough to work against it. We did not shoot great, but we showed toughness in the end and made the crucial shots. They have a lot of shooters, and I knew that they would put it up. It was a wild game. I thought that Korvotney (Barber) played well behind the glass. Quantez (Robertson) showed toughness during crucial moments. (DeWayne) Reed had seven assists. We did much better at point guard than last game. That's what you are looking for. I think that overall it was a good win. It is nice to come back against a talented team like Troy."

On close last minute win...
"It is a huge win. Now we have a week to get ready for our next game. We just have to find a way to get through it. I am disappointed in our shots. We had some really good looks. We're just not making shots. We had to overcome our foul problems. Because of that, there were freshmen in there during the first half. I think that Matt (Heramb) did well. He is a good passer."

Auburn Guard Rasheem Barrett

On the winning shot...
"I shot an open shot and just missed it and Frank did what he was supposed to."

"We have to concentrate and make our shots. We have to take this week we have off and get ready for next week."

Auburn Guard Frank Tolbert

On winning...
"It means a lot. It means we get more confidence about ourselves and playing good team ball."

Auburn Guard Quantez Robertson

On playing a new role this week... "Coach told me to be ready to shoot when I get the ball. I got to be point guard and shooting guard, whatever coach wanted me to be."

Troy Head Coach Don Maestri

"For us, to play well in the second half, but not come out on top was a disappointment. Auburn had some good shots and defensive plays. Their offense played well which is why they came out on top. We've got to take our game momentum and go with it because you can vanish quickly with 3's, which is what happened. We need to get used to the swings with this new Troy group. Overall, we just didn't shoot well. We had several wide open shots that we need to make in the future. It was at tough loss, but a good win for Auburn. We need to handle our 9 point leads better. We need to put more pressure on them. Of course, I could've just coached badly. The last play was tough because we should've gotten the rebound. One rebound can help keep the lead in a fragile game like tonight."

On Richard Chaney...
"Richard has high expectations of himself that he did not make tonight. Although he played well, he could do more to help us come out on top."

Troy Guard Richard Chaney

On Troy's nine point lead...
"We thought we were going to win at that point but we knew it was still early in the game. It is always a good feeling to have a lead like that."

On Auburn's last possession...
"We should have gotten the rebound. It was a big possession and that one possession changed the whole game. Unfortunately for us things didn't go our way."

On Troy's overall performance...
"The game was really fast. We only had nine turnovers and that is a very positive thing. We missed a lot of shots and didn't play our best but I think overall we played hard."
