Auburn Head Coach Jeff Lebo
"Congratulations to AUM. They played better than us. They made the shots at crucial times. We didn't make very bright plays. We put them on the foul line a lot. The team that is on the foul line the most usually wins. This was the worst game I've seen Quantez (Robertson) play. He got into foul trouble and we had to play some young guys. We were down by two and we were just tired. We couldn't score when we needed to. Matt (Heramb) played well tonight and showed good signs."
"They played well. We missed shots early on and we took some bad shots. They are bigger than us. They made key shots and we had a hard time stopping them. We had 26 turnovers. With that many turnovers, you don't really have an inside game."
On the loss...
"It hurts our kid's confidence. We have a young and fragile group. It's a good thing that this game doesn't count. We are not too happy with tonight. Troy is going to want a piece of us and it is frustrating for the kids."
Auburn Guard Frank Tolbert
On his scoring...
"It can be anybody's game on any given night. I would be happy to score no points and win. We need to work on executing our offensive plays better. They just came out and played better ball than us."
On team confidence...
"I don't think we will lose confidence. You win some, you lose some. Since it's not a NCAA team, it doesn't matter. We just need to get ready for Troy State on Friday."
AUM Head Coach Larry Chapman
On playing at Auburn:
"I am awfully grateful for Jeff (Lebo) for allowing us to come here and play. It has been a very rewarding experience. This game is like hunting and fishing, you never know. When I spoke at the tip off club today I told them that I love Auburn and that I love Auburn people. My experience here was great and Auburn is where my home is even though my heart is at AUM. AUM has been great to me and my family. This was an exciting couple of hours for AUM and for our basketball team, the athletic department and our university."
On AUM's performance:
"I was afraid that the team would be a little bug-eyed playing here tonight but we have guys who can make shots and who can compete. We played for a full 40 minutes tonight and we played hard. The difference in this game was that we had a deeper bench than they did. Basketball requires energy and we had a real edge there. We hit shots that were critical and we hit them at times that set us apart. We played very soundly and our defensive effort was definitely a factor. We didn't have bad match-ups because Auburn only has one big post player. We only had 15 turnovers and we executed our offense. We were very fortunate tonight. This game means nothing to the career that Lebo will have here at Auburn. He is a good coach and he will be very successful here."
On winning the game:
"I can't describe what I am feeling verbally. There is a deep perception that the SEC and other major schools get all of the players. I feel very privileged and honored to be back here and to come out of here with a win."
