Head Coach Jeff Lebo

Opening Comments...
"I thought we played pretty good tonight. We left everything on the table. I thought Quan (Prowell) played well tonight. Really, in the first half he was the one that kept us in it. We had one turnover in the first half. I do not know how many we had by the end of the game. I thought we competed hard, but they (Mississippi State) are good offensively. They are very hard to guard. They have a little bit of everything. They have shooters, inside play and can beat you off the bounce. Those three-pointers Jamont (Gordon) made in the first half were unbelievable. That was definitely on me, and not on my players out there. I thought we battled hard, but they (Mississippi State) were pretty good tonight."

On the play of Auburn senior forward Quan Prowell...
"He has been consistent. He shot the ball well. I thought we did a good job of finding him the ball out there."

On the position his team was in going into halftime...
"We felt good. We had a couple of loose balls and deflections that we just got unlucky on."

On the play of Mississippi State forward Charles Rhodes...
"Boy, (Charles) Rhodes is good. I think he is averaging a career double-double against us. I think he might be the best postplayer in the league."

On the combination of Jamont Gordon and Charles Rhodes...
"They are terrific. They are two first team all-SEC players in my opinion, and maybe the SEC Player of the Year in (Jamont) Gordon."

Mississippi State Head Coach Rick Stansbury
Opening Comments...
"Auburn is a tough matchup for us. (Quan) Prowell had a huge game, especially with his 20 first half points and seven three-pointers. Offensively there were no problems for us. We attacked their zone well in the second half and were able to knock down some open shots. Twenty-two assists is a great stat to see. We were able to get the ball down low effectively, and once we got it there we found ways to put it in the basket."

On Jamont Gordon and Charles Rhodes...
"They both shot the ball well. Jamont was very effective offensively and Charles did good things with the basketball. We were able to share the basketball very well tonight which is what I like to see. Anytime you shoot 60-percent from the field, the chances are you are going to have an effective night offensively."

On Auburn's matchup...
"They are not a bad matchup offensively, and we showed that we were able to get the ball down low effectively. Auburn is a bad matchup defensively and you are going to have to beat them offensively because they are a great perimeter team."

On Charles Rhodes...
"He is playing hard, with good energy and enthusiasm. His effort has been consistent, which is what we have been looking for from him."

On sharing the SEC Western Division title...
"We like where we are right now. That is all I really want to say because we have not won anything outright yet. Right now Florida is the most important game for us. A lot can happen in just three games. It feels good to have a share, but I want to win the division outright."

On shooting...
"If you think you are going to shoot the deep ball consistently with them you are wrong. Auburn is a great perimeter team and you are not going to be able to keep up with them around the arc. That is why you have to find ways to get the ball down low. Tonight we were able to get the ball down low effectively and find ways to score once we got the ball down there."

Mississippi State Player Quotes

Jamont Gordon, Jr. Guard/Forward
On his three-pointers setting the tone of the game...
"I guess I came out in a little slump. I started feeling it a little bit and then started letting it ride."

On the post mismatch...
"They were too small to guard Charles Rhodes down there. He dominated the game and he created open shots for us outside."

Jarvis Varnado, So. Center
On the toughness of guarding Quan Powell...
"You saw how tough he was. He had 31 points. He is a good shooter. We had to go zone the second half because he was shooting so well."

On Charles Rhodes and he scoring in double digits...
"Coach (Stansbury) told the guards to give us the ball down low because we had a match-up problem and they did that. Right now we are thanking the guards for that."

Charles Rhodes, Sr. Forward
On his three-pointer adding an exclamation point to game...
"Yeah it was. Jamont (Gordon) did pass it to me. It is an exclamation point because it is starting to take a toll on me, emotionally. This is my second to last game and it is starting to get emotional for me."

On knowing he notched a career-high 30 points...
"Oh most definitely. I knew that."

On what his focus is for the last few games...
"We are just taking it one game at a time because right now everything is up for grabs. Tennessee just lost a game. We have to take it one game at a time and just focus on that one team and try to execute as best as we can, especially on Saturday because it is going to be crazy in 'The Swamp'."
