Head Coach Jeff Lebo Quotes
Opening statement...
"We had a tough one today. We shot so poorly that we never really had a chance. We fouled too much, and it eventually put them on the foul line. We received nothing from Quan Prowell or DeWayne Reed with their time out there. They also really cleaned us on the glass. When we did get shots we only had one attempt at it. We had a hard time defending Charles Rhodes especially when Quan was out of the game. Jamont Gordon was terrific. He just dominates the game for their team. Tez Robertson did really well defending him. But when he starts making threes you can not guard him. No one can. We got some good looks. There were chances, but we did not capitalize off of the opportunities."

On playing better...
"We can play better. We shot poorly. They got a good start on us, and we were never really able to come back."

Auburn Player Quotes

Frank Tolbert, Senior Guard
On battling with Charles Rhodes...
"I've played against Charles Rhodes since high school, so I know how he plays. He is a tough guy, who has the moves and size, and he uses his body."

On rebounding...
"We didn't box out, which was our main thing. When the shot goes up, coach told us to box out. Some of our players didn't find a man to box out, so Mississippi State got the rebounds."

Quantez Robertson, Junior Guard
On Mississippi State's fast start...
"It was big. They got up 10-0 and we couldn't execute. We couldn't get the rebounds and we fouled, and it's hard to come back from that. We got in foul trouble, and we were sluggish. We couldn't get our shots in, so they came up with the win."

On staying optimistic...
"We have to work out as hard as we can. We have to do everything hard. It's hard to start out in the SEC like we have, and hard to win the SEC West when we start off like we have."

On having the next week off...
"It's kind of tough. We have a lot more time than normal. We just have to get prepared for Ole Miss."

Mississippi State Head Coach Rick Stansbury
Opening statement...
"First of all, Jeff Lebo does an excellent job coaching his team by squeezing out extreme hustle and hard work out of his ball team. I give him a lot of credit for that. Tonight, we just played tough and executed our game plan as well as we possibly could. We had a great run early on which I believe set a tone for the whole game. We were able to get them in foul trouble, which in return allowed us to shoot more free throws. We out rebound them and held a very good offensive team to 33 percent."

Rebounds...
"Out rebounds were one of our game plans for the game. We knew we would have to out rebound them to win."

Mississippi State's turnovers...
"We did have a lot of turnovers, however, I believe they were created by Auburn's defense rather than just turning the ball over. Even though we did have many turnovers, it didn't seem to really affect our flow in the game."

Big win...
"It was huge win. Every SEC win is great. It was made very clear to my ball team that we must win tonight vs. Auburn to have a chance in the NCAAs."

Mississippi State Player Quotes

Charles Rhodes, Senior Forward
On Auburn's play...
"They are a great team. They have a lot of great shooters. You can never let your guard down because they will come back and punch you in the mouth."

On the win...
"Tonight was a big win. It was on the road and in the SEC and those games are must win games. We went out and dominated on the boards and that is a big reason why we won. Now we need to take the momentum of this game and carry it with us for the rest of the season and the SEC Tournament.

On the early 10-0 run... "We just went out and worked hard. We were getting a lot of rebounds which led to a lot of points and easy kick out passes. Then when we got on defense we didn't let up and blocked or contested every shot."
