University of Alabama
Head Coach Mark Gottfried
"The first thing is that I think our players played extremely hard. Their attitude was great. We got a lot of extra shooting in the morning and were in two-a-days this week. They deserved what they got because of all the work they have been putting in. We are back where we need to be and I am very proud of our guys for that. It's amazing what kind of game you get when you make some shots. We struggled at the foul line, but we scored 97 overall points even though we missed 13 or 14 foul points. We had lot of people getting after the ball and being aggressive and we need to keep that up. We deserve a smile right now. We have had a tough couple of games and we needed a change."

Player Quotes

Brandon Hollinger:
On the week of practice leading to the game: "It helped us a lot this game. The guys just came out and played hard every day in practices and didn't dwell on the losses we had. We just came back motivated more to get a win. Coach switched the teams up. He had different guys on different teams and everybody was competing in practice. It showed tonight in the game. Everyone was competing and playing hard. That's what we should do every night."

On preparing for Tennessee:
"With this kind of win we want to take our intensity into the game. The intensity we played with tonight and how hard all of our guys played, that's what we want to take into the game on Tuesday."

Richard Hendrix:
"It was a great game. We kept our energy up from the get go to the end. Auburn has a good team. It was a good win for us today. After the game, the locker room is always better after a win. The locker is not a place you want to be after losing a ball game. Today it is a happy place."

"They play a little bit of small ball. We were able to get the ball inside and take advantage of that. I started things off well and set the tone for the team. After that the rest of the players picked it up and made big time shots from the outside and stretch the lead."

Rico Pickett:
On coming off the bench:
"I believe it made me play better. I was able to watch a few minutes of the game and see how the game was going. I knew what to do when I got in there. I felt like it really helped me tonight."

Auburn University
Head Coach Jeff Lebo
"They (Alabama) have not shot the ball very well and boy they made some. They made some tough ones, especially in the first half when they made their run. Hats off to them. They shot the ball extremely well and (Rico) Pickett played very well for them. He made some key shots. Brandon (Hollinger) was terrific today. He made some key ones over top of hands. Defensive pressure was right there and he made them at the end of shot clocks. It gave them a lot of energy and took a lot of energy from us. (Mykal) Riley made some key shots. That's the best they've shot in a long time. When you shoot like that especially at home, good things will happen for your team. I'm very impressed with the way Pickett played, too. For a freshman, he took care of the basketball. We'll take this game and examine it. The one area that I think we need is to keep the game closer. The way they shot it early in the game got us out of what we wanted to do defensively. We're not a team really built to be coming back from those large deficits because of our depth."

Player Quotes

Rasheem Barrett:
"I can't help it. We're in a slump and we've got to get out of it. They played a great game. I don't want to take anything away from them. They (Alabama) knew what time it was and they played great tonight."

"We had difficulty. We acted like we'd never seen them before. They just played a great game. They executed well, we didn't execute, and they came out on top."

"If they got it into the post we tried to dig it out of them. Today he (Richard Hendrix) was just strong and quick with it. He was very effective today."

Quan Prowell:
"Hendrix just came down on my nose. It wasn't anything personal. I was in a daze for a second so I had to come out. That's a heavy load; he's a big boy."

"I think fouls were a big part of the game. We couldn't pressure the ball like we're used to doing, and we could be a scrappy team like we normally are. With all the fouls people were kind of hesitant to play defense. They played great ball."
