AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn assistant strength and conditioning coach Michael Shumaker will hold a strength and conditioning camp for youth in fifth through ninth grades on Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Watson Fieldhouse. Registration for the camp is $125 and the camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The purpose of this camp is to teach proper techniques in many different exercises, from Olympic lifting to sprint Mechanics. Campers will learn how these Olympic and power lifts will correlate to the movements of different sports such as football, baseball, basketball, and other sports. The focus will be on quality movements instead of quantity movement. Outside of the weight room, campers will work on speed and agility development. The speed/agility program will be a progressive program working on body placement and actions of the body during sport.
Each camper will receive individual and group instruction from certified Auburn University strength and conditioning coaches, a player information card, a sample workout plan and nutrition information.
This camp is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each camper must turn in the required paperwork in order to participate in any camp activities. This paperwork includes signed waivers by parents/legal guardians, proof of insurance and medical releases.
