AUBURN, Ala. - Junior outfielder Mike Bianucci has been voted to the eighth annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Preseason 2008 All-America Second Team, it was announced on Wednesday. The Fairfax, Va., native returns to Auburn with a lifetime .343 batting average and 22 career home runs.

A 23rd-round pick of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 2007 MLB Draft, he decided to return to Auburn for his junior season and has already been placed on the 2008 Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award watch list.

As a sophomore, Bianucci hit .326 with 14 home runs, driving in 51 runs en route to being voted to the All-SEC team for a second straight season.

Auburn opens up its 2008 season on Friday, Feb. 22, at 3pm CT against East Tennessee State at Plainsman Park.
