The Auburn-Alabama baseball series at Plainsman Park has been changed from a Friday-Sunday series to a Thursday-Saturday series. The games will now be played on Thursday, March 28 (6pm CT), Friday, March 29 (6pm) and Saturday, March 30 (1pm).
The game time for the Sunday game of the Opening Weekend series against Maine has also been moved up to an 11am start time to accommodate Maine's travel plans. The teams will open the season on Friday, Feb. 15 at 3pm and will then play a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday (two nine inning games).
Auburn has played in each of the last three Southeastern Conference Tournaments and is ready to begin its fifth year under the direction of head coach John Pawlowski (134-103 / .565).
Auburn returns its top four hitters off of last year's team which led the SEC in batting average (.304), on base percentage (.386), triples (19) and stolen bases (113). The top returning hitter is outfielder Ryan Tella, who was a Second Team All-SEC selection after finishing fourth in the SEC with a .360 batting average.
Daniel Koger is the top returning pitcher off of last year's squad after he posted a 3.19 ERA in 79 innings pitched. Collectively Auburn returns 45 percent of its innings thrown last year from a staff that posted a 3.92 ERA.
