Tim Hudson swings for the fences at the 2012 Celebrity Home Run Derby.
AUBURN, Ala. - Iron Bowl weekend will include some baseball flavor this year as the Auburn baseball team will again partner with the Hudson Family Foundation for the annual Celebrity Home Run Derby at Plainsman Park on Friday, Nov. 29 - the day before the Auburn-Alabama football game.
Gates will open for the event at 5 p.m. with the participants taking batting practice from 5-5:45. The Home Run Derby will begin at 6 p.m.
This year's event will be headlined by a pair of Atlanta Braves pitchers leading their respective teams in an Auburn-Alabama showdown. Auburn graduate and 13-year MLB veteran Tim Hudson will captain one team of hitters, "Team Hudson,", while Braves closer Craig Kimbrel, an Alabama fan, will headline "Team Kimbrel."
A full list of participants has not yet been finalized and will be announced at a later date.
A minimum $2 donation is requested at the gates for admission to the event, with all proceeds going to the Hudson Family Foundation.
Chance-to-win tickets will also be issued to individuals based on every $5 donated. Auburn Diamond Dolls will be accepting donations in the weeks leading up to the event as well as at tables throughout the stadium. All winners will be selected immediately following the derby. Prizes will include memorabilia from the participants as well as other Auburn and Under Armour items.
