Justin Fradejas signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Royals on Monday morning and was immediately assigned to the Idaho Falls Chukars, the Rookie League affiliate of the Kansas City organization.
A two-year starter at Auburn after transferring from Northwest Florida State Community College where he was an All-Panhandle Conference selection, Fradejas hit .336 in 112 games at Auburn, collectiong 19 doubles, two triples and six home runs, driving in 53 RBI and scoring 92 runs.
This past year he hit .316 with 11 doubles, a triple, three home runs and 20 RBI, scoring 40 runs. Capitalizing on his speed, he had 13 bunt base hits in 21 attempts to go along with eight sac bunts.
Known for his defensive prowness in the outfield, he had a team-leading five outfield assists in 2011 to go along with a bevy of highlight reel catches during his two years of patroling the outfield.
Fradejas is the third former Auburn player to join the Kansas City organization in the last year, joining Brian Fletcher and Ryan Jenkins, both of which were drafted in 2010 by the Royals.
