Players on the 2014 Roster

Dillon Ortman - AZL Angels (Rookie - Angels)
2014 senior Dillon Ortman signed a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on June 17, giving Auburn four players from the 2014 team that have either been drafted or signed by professional teams. Ortman is in the Rookie Arizona League with the AZL Angels. He made his pro debut on Saturday, June 21, retiring all four batters he faced in a 1.1-inning relief appearance.

Damek Tomscha - GCL Phillies (Rookie - Phillies)
Damek Tomscha was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 17th round of the 2014 MLB Draft. He was assigned to the Gulf Coast Rookie League Phillies on June 20. In three games so far, he is batting .500 with a home run, 2 RBI and four runs scored. Tomscha homered in his second professional at-bat, leading off the third inning with a solo shot to highlight a 2-for-4 effort against the GCL Blue Jays on June 20.

Trey Cochran-Gill - Pulaski Mariners (Rookie - Mariners)
Trey Cochran-Gill signed with the Seattle Mariners on June 12 after being selected in the 17th round of the 2014 MLB Draft. He was assigned to the Pulaski (Va.) Mariners and has appeared in two games so far, both in relief. He is 1-0 with a save, a 0.00 ERA and 4 strikeouts in 4.0 innings pitched, picking up the win in his professional debut against the Burlington Royals on June 19 and a two-inning save on June 23 against the Elizabethton Twins.

In the Majors

Josh Donaldson - Oakland Athletics
Donaldson is hitting .252 with 18 home runs and 56 RBI as the everyday third baseman for the Oakland A's. He is the leading vote-getter among American League third basemen in voting for the 2014 All-Star Game, which puts him in position to be the first Oakland position player to earn an All-Star start since Jason Giambi in 2000. He appears to have broken out of a slump from the first half of June, having hit safely in 7 of his last 8 games, including a 3-run homer in a win over the Red Sox on June 20.

Tim Hudson - San Francisco Giants
In 14 starts, Hudson is 7-3 with a 2.39 ERA, having struck out 60 and walked just 14 hitters in 94.0 innings pitched this season, helping lead the Giants to the National League's second-best record. Despite a tough outing against the White Sox in his last start, Hudson continues to make a push for his fourth All-Star selection.

David Ross - Boston Red Sox
Ross has played in 27 games for the Red Sox as the backup catcher, hitting .174 with three home runs and 6 RBI. In his last start against the Athletics on June 22, he went 2-for-4 with a home run in the Red Sox' 7-6 win.

Chris Bootcheck - Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Phillies)
Bootcheck is 2-3 with a 4.09 ERA in six starts for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He started the season on the disabled list but made his first appearance of the year on May 24, warning a win with 5 innings of shutout ball against Toledo.

Justin Christian - Durham Bulls (Rays)
Christian is hitting .265 with five home runs and 25 RBI in 69 games so far as the everyday left fielder for the Durham Bulls. He signed as a free agent with the Rays in January after spending the 2013 season in the St. Louis Cardinals organization at Triple-A Memphis.

Grant Dayton - New Orleans Zephyrs (Marlins)
Dayton started the season in Double-A with the Jacksonville Suns but earned a promotion to Triple-A after the first month of the season. With the Zephyrs, Dayton is 2-0 with a 3.72 ERA in 15 relief appearances, earning one save. He has struck out 18 batters and walked just nine in 19.1 innings of work. Combined with his 11-game stint in Jacksonville, Dayton is 2-1 with a 2.52 ERA and four total saves in 26 appearances.

Brian Fletcher - Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals)
Fletcher is hitting .295 with two homers and 15 RBI in 34 games with the Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers, but has been on the disabled list since late May. In his last 10 games before hitting the DL, he was hitting .314.

Stephen Kohlscheen - Tacoma Rainers (Mariners)
Kohlscheen was promoted to Triple-A Tacoma last week after spending the bulk of the last three seasons with the Double-A Jackson Generals in the Southern League. In three relief appearances at Tacoma so far, he has yet to allow a run and only one hit in 5.1 innings pitched while striking out three and walking none. He was named a Southern League All-Star - but was promoted before last week's All-Star Game - after going 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA and six saves in Jackson, where he struck out 33 and walked just 4 hitters in 32.0 innings.

Hunter Morris - Nashville Sounds (Brewers 40-Man Roster)
Morris, considered one of the top prospects in the Milwaukee Brewers' organization, is hitting .274 with nine homers and 33 RBI in 74 games at Triple-A Nashville. He looks to be the next former Tiger to make his big-league debut as he earned a spot on the Brewers' 40-man roster out of spring training.

Michael Nix - El Paso Chihuahuas (Padres)
Nix joined the Chihuahuas in late May after pitching for the independent Sugar Land Skeeters early in the year. In eight appearances (four starts) at El Paso, Nix is 3-2 with a 5.08 ERA, striking out 16 batters and walking 10 in 28.1 innings of work.

Clete Thomas - Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Phillies)
Thomas, who signed with the Phillies after playing 92 games in the majors with the Minnesota Twins last season, is hitting .259 with a home run and 10 RBI along with 8 stolen bases in 33 games with the IronPigs. Thomas has been on the disabled list since mid-May.
