Auburn Baseball Summer Update: June 18

Alaska Baseball League
Ryan Jenkins has raised his batting average to .467 on the season as the Anchorage Bucs are 5-1 overall (1-0 in league play) ... Jenkins is currently third on the team with six RBI and so far has more doubles (two) than strikeouts (one).

Cape Cod League
Joseph Sanders started out his year on the Cape with a 1-for-3 day, drawing a walk and getting hit by a pitch twice as he scored three runs from the three hole in the order in a 9-4 opening-day Harwich Mariners win ... Sanders, who is hitting .231, is currently tied for the league lead in runs scored (four) and tied for second in stolen bases (three) ... The Cotuit Kettleers added eighth-round draft choice Mike Bianucci to their roster and he joins Kevin Patterson as Auburn players on the squad ... Patterson has impressed early as he is second in the league with a .500 batting average, is tied for third with four RBI and is fourth with a .800 slugging percentage ... Bianucci meanwhile is hitting .250 ... Sanders and Harwich are a perfect 3-0 and are atop the Eastern Division Standings while Patterson and Bianucci have Cottuit leading the Western Division at 3-0.

Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League
Ben Jones sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh gave the Big Train a 5-4 win on Thursday night as the Bethesda Big Train is in second in the league at 6-2, a game out of first ... Jones is hitting .188 on the season.

Clark Griffin League
Unfortunately updated stats are still not available, but what we do know is that the Fairfax Nationals are 4-4 on the season with both Rus Harper and Chris O'Neil on the roster.



Coastal Plain League
Chezz McCann started his week out with a bang, driving in three runs in the Peninsula Pilots' 14-4 romp of Thomasville ... McCann currently leads the Pilots with a .293 batting average and has scored 11 runs, having started 15 out of 17 games thus far ... Peninsula is 6-11, fourth in the North Division.

Florida Collegiate League
Tony Caldwell had a rough week for the Winter Park Diamond Dogs, going hitless on the week to drop his average to .143 ... Winter Park, which started out 3-1, is now 4-5 and 2.5 games out of first.

Valley League
Jon Luke Jacobs picked up his first win of the summer on Thursday, throwing 2.0 innings of scoreless baseball, striking out four of the five hitters he faced in a 4-2 come-from-behind win ... For the season, Jacobs is 1-1 with a 1.74 ERA in 10.1 innings, striking out 14 ... Bradley Ray had a solid start to his week, going 3-for-4 for a 1-for-3 in his first two games of the week for Front Royal, both in the clean-up spot ... In 15 games, Ray is hitting .250 and has drawn 10 walks, which is tied for second in the league, and stolen nine bases, which is also second in the league ... Fauquier is 8-4, a half-game out of first, while Front Royal 8-7, both in the North Division.

Sunbelt Baseball League
Ty Kelley threw the middle three innings in Norcross' Saturday night 5-4 win over Cobb ... In three innings, Kelley used just 36 pitches, giving up a run on two hits while striking out four ... Norcross went 3-1 on the week.

USA Baseball National Team Tryouts
The USA squad is 4-2 and has six games remaining before the National Team Roster is announced ... The team will play two games in New England before heading to Fayetteville, N.C., for a game and Columbia, S.C., for two games in Capital City Stadium before the roster is trimmed to 22 ... Brian Fletcher is hitting .222 with three runs scored and two RBIs while Hunter Morris is also hitting .222 without a RBI.
