  • Auburn clinched a spot in the SEC Tournament and enters the tournament as the No. 8 seed after finishing in a three-way tie for second in the SEC Western Division but losing the three-way tie-break with Alabama and Mississippi State
  • The berth in the tournament is the second straight for Auburn, something it hasn't done since going for seven consecutive years from 1997-2003
  • Auburn is 29-37 all-time at the SEC Tournament after going 1-2 last year
  • Auburn's all-time record at the Tournament when it is played in Hoover, Ala., is 9-15
  • Auburn will face top-seeded South Carolina in the opening round
  • Auburn was swept by South Carolina (2-1, 10-2, 7-3) in Columbia, S.C., April 29-May 1
  • Auburn has faced South Carolina four previous times at the SEC Tournament and is 2-2 against it
  • Last year the two teams played in an elimination game on Thursday morning with Auburn prevailing, 3-1, in 12 innings
  • Auburn is 16-36 all-time against South Carolina

  • Sr. catcher Tony Caldwell established a new Auburn record for runners thrown out stealing on Thursday when he nailed a Tennessee base stealer in the first, the 58th of his career
  • Caldwell threw out two runners on the weekend and now has 59 for his career, surpassing former All-American Casey Dunn's mark of 57 set in 1996-97
  • Dunn started 191 games behind the plate while Caldwell has started 132
  • Caldwell was also tabbed one of 13 semifinalists for the Johnny Bench Award as the nation's top collegiate catcher
  • This is the first time he has been placed on the semifinalists list after being on the Watch List three previous times
  • Jr. IF Casey McElroy continues to be one of the league's best hitters, ranking in the top 10 in the SEC in eight offensive categories (Batting Avg. - .370 - 5th; Slugging Pct. - .555 - 6th; Hits - 84 - 1st; RBI - 52 - 5th; Doubles - 18 - T7th; Home Runs - 8 - T8th; Total Bases - 126 - 4th; Sac Flies - 6 - T3rd).
