AUBURN, Ala. -
Miles Morton, a right handed pitcher from Spain Park High School in Birmingham, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Auburn baseball team next year.
Morton was a three-year letterman for Will Smith at Spain Park and went 5-5 with a 2.79 ERA in his senior season, leading SPHS to the second round of the state playoffs. In 67.2 innings this season he struck out 65 while walking just 22 and threw a no-hitter against Benjamin Russell.
"Miles is a good looking young pitcher whose arm works very well for us," Auburn Head Coach Tom Slater said. "He reminds us of Brett Butts at a young age."
Morton becomes Auburn's 14th signee for next fall, joining Brian Fletcher (Fayetteville, Ga.), Wes Gilmer (Pinson), Justin Hargett (Hartselle), Rus Harper (Birmingham), Bradley Hendrix (Birmingham), Jon Luke Jacobs (Gainestown), D.J. Jones (Gulf Shores), Justin Jones (Millbrook), Cory Luckie (Prattville), Chex McCann (Deatsville), Hunter Morris (Huntsville), Trent Mummey (Pinson) and Kevin Patterson (Birmingham).
