May 9, 2013
The Auburn baseball team will play its final away weekend of the 2013 season this weekend as it heads to Gainesville, Fla., for a three-game series against Florida. Game times for the series are 6pm CT on both Friday and Saturday and noon on Sunday. All three games will air on the Auburn IMG Network's baseball affiliates and on-line at auburntigers.com.
Auburn is 29-19, 9-15 SEC and is on a four-game winning streak, coming from behind to defeat then- No. 18 Ole Miss twice last weekend as well as midweek comeback wins over both Jacksonville State and Samford.
Florida is 27-23, 12-12 SEC and is coming off of a series sweep at LSU last weekend before picking up a pair of lop-sided non-conference wins over Florida A&M and Florida Atlantic during the midweek.
The pitching rotation for Auburn is left-hander Conner Kendrick (3-3) on Friday and left-hander Michael O'Neal (8-3) on Saturday. Florida will start right-hander Jonathan Crawford (3-5) on Friday and left-hander Danny Young (3-4) on Saturday. Neither team has determined a Sunday starter.
Auburn currently sits in 11th place in the race for the SEC Tournament while Florida is tied for sixth.
Senior first baseman Garrett Cooper brings a team- and personal-best 12 game hitting streak into the weekend, hitting .426 over the last 12 games dating back to the 6-3 win at Samford on April 16. During the stretch he has two doubles, three home runs, six RBI and seven runs scored.
This is Auburn's first trip to Gainesville since the 2008 season.
