The Auburn baseball team plays host to one of the two teams it is tied with in the SEC standings this weekend as it welcomes Tennessee to Plainsman Park for a three-game series beginning Friday at 6pm. The series continues at 3pm on Saturday before concluding at 1pm on Sunday.
Auburn and Tennessee have identical 22-19 overall records as well as 7-11 conference records, placing them in a three-way tie with Vanderbilt for the ninth spot in the SEC overall standings. The top 10 teams earn a trip to this year's SEC Tournament (May 22-27, Hoover, Ala.), with Auburn looking to make a third straight trip for the first time since the program went for seven straight years from 1997-03.

Auburn students can pick up scantrons and pencils to get ready for finals at all three games of the series. There will also be chances at each game for Auburn students to win free coffee, Academy Sports and Outdoors Gift Cards, movie passes, Niffer's gift cards, Marco's Pizza gift cards and more.
On Friday the first 100 students will receive a free hot dog and drink while the first 1,000 fans into the game on Saturday will receive a camo jersey koozie courtesy of Golden Flake.

Auburn leads the all-time series, 79-36, and has defeated Tennessee in two out of three series under John Pawlowski ... Auburn is 45-19 against Tennessee at Plainsman Park and has won the last two home series against the Volunteers.

Cullen Wacker was 5-for-11 (.455) with a double in three games against Tennessee last year, driving in three runs and scoring three ... He also laid down a sac bunt in the series loss at Knoxville.
Creede Simpson is the only other current position player other than Cullen Wacker to have recorded a hit against Tennessee, going 2-for-11 (.182) in four games spanning two seasons ... The only other current position players with an at bat against Tennessee are Zach Alvord (0-for-1) and Jay Gonzalez (0-for-1).
Jon Luke Jacobs has a career 5.65 ERA in three appearances (two starts) against Tennessee, earning a win in 2009 and taking a loss in 2011 ... His win in 2009 is one of just three career SEC wins for the senior, who also has two career wins over Vanderbilt in league play.
Bill Mosiello was an assistant coach at Auburn in 2008 and is now in his first year as an assistant coach at Tennessee on Dave Serrano's staff.
WHERE WE STAND WITH FOUR SERIES LEFT
Auburn enters the seventh weekend of SEC play in a three-way tie for ninth in the SEC with Tennessee and Vanderbilt ... Auburn faces Tennessee this weekend and Vanderbilt is playing host to Kentucky while next weekend Tennessee plays host to Vanderbilt and Auburn plays at Georgia ... Auburn is two games out of second in the SEC West and one game ahead of last ... The top 10 teams in the SEC overall standings earn a spot in this year's SEC Tournament, which takes place at Hoover, Ala., May 22-27.
HEADING TO HOOVER?
Auburn is attempting to earn a third straight trip to Hoover, Ala., for this year's SEC Tournament (May 22-27), something it hasn't done since going to seven straight tournaments from 1997-2003.
DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE
Auburn started out the SEC season with three straight series wins, going 6-3 against Ole Miss, LSU and Mississippi State ... In those nine games the team was hitting a combined .279 but had out-scored teams, 45-30, as the pitching staff had a 2.33 ERA ... Fast-forward to the last nine games and Auburn as gone a combined 1-8 against Alabama, Vanderbilt and South Carolina ... In the last nine games, Auburn has hit a combined .301 but has been out-scored 66-37 as the staff has a 6.10 ERA.
HEATING UP THE HOME RUN TROT
As a team, Auburn has just 22 home runs, sixth in the SEC, but the team has connected for at least one home run in each of the last five games for six total homers ... Garrett Cooper (four overall), Creede Simpson (two overall) and Ryan Tella (four overall) each have two home runs during the current run, with Simpson homering in each of the last two games.
Of Auburn's 238 hits, 48 percent of them have gone for extra-bases (78 doubles, 14 triples and 22 home runs) ... Auburn has had at least one extra-base hit in six straight games and has had at least one extra-base hit in 38 out of 41 games this year.
READING THE RPI
With four weekends and 14 scheduled games remaining, Auburn is ranked No. 61 in the Thursday morning edition of the WarrenNolan.com RPI ... Tennessee is No. 68 while each of the last three weekend opponents hold higher RPIs in Georgia (No. 41), Arkansas (No. 12) and Florida (No. 2) ... Auburn's strenght of schedule is 38.
