The Auburn baseball team will try to get a season series sweep over Alabama State at 6pm on Wednesday at Plainsman Park. The game is the final Dollar Hot Dog Night of the season.
Auburn (19-13) has won 16 of 20 non-conference games, including a 10-2 win over Alabama State on March 19. Garrett Cooper has been a force in the Auburn lineup, leading the team in hitting (.346) as he has been on base in 27 consecutive games and 31 out of 32 games this season. He is also currently leading the team in on base percentage (.485), slugging (.567), RBI (26) and walks (23), is tied for the team lead in doubles (nine) and tied for fourth in runs (21).
Auburn has not determined who will start on the mound, but will use a collection of arms throughout the game.
Alabama State is 19-15 going into a Tuesday night game at Mercer. As a team it is hitting .278 while it has a .408 staff ERA. Left-hander Matt Burnside (0-1, 3.09 ERA) will get the start on the mound.
Following Wednesday's game, Auburn will close out its four-game home stand with a three-game SEC series against Georgia. The series, which will be played at 6pm on Friday, 3pm on Saturday and 1pm on Sunday, will be the final home games in the month of April for Auburn, next playing at home on Friday, May 3.
In addition to dollar hot dogs, Wednesday is 80's Night at Plainsman Park and fans are encouraged to wear their best outfits from the 80's while enjoying music from the decade. The best-dressed fan will receive a prize from Auburn Athletics.
