The Auburn baseball team will play host to Samford at 6pm on Tuesday at Plainsman Park. The game is designated as a Two-for-Tuesday and fans can buy one ticket and get one free.
Auburn (17-14) enters to game trying to snap a three-game slide while Samford (20-12) comes into the game winners of three of its last four. Tuesday night is the second meeting between the two after Samford claimed an 8-5 win on March 27 in Birmingham.

Ryan Tella enters the week among the SEC leaders among the SEC leaders in batting average (.408, 3rd), slugging percentage (.558, 9th), on base percentage (.497, 2nd), hits (49, 4th), triples (2, T-7th), total bases (67, T-7th), walks (20, 7th) and steals (8, T-5th) ... He is currently riding a four-game hitting streak and a six-game streak of reaching base safely ... In 31 games this season, he has been on base in all but two of them.

Garrett Cooper has not only been getting it done in the field, where he has a .996 fielding percentage on 269 chances, but the junior has also reached base safely in 29 of the 30 games he has played in this year, including his first 22, and he has a .435 on base percentage, second on the team and just outside of the SEC leaders.
WINNING IN THE MIDWEEK
Auburn has gone 6-1 in midweek games this year, outscoring teams 68-17 ... Auburn has been led by Jon Luke Jacobs, who is 4-0 with a 2.53 ERA and a .207 batting average against, 12th and ninth in the SEC, respectively, to go along with his 35 strike outs in 32 innings ... As a whole the team is hitting a blustery .351 in the midweek (led by Creede Simpson's .500 [13-26]) while the entire pitching staff has a combined 2.45 ERA ... Last year Auburn finished at .500 overall (29-29) and was just 6-7 in midweek contests.
RIDING THE PITCHING
Auburn's pitching staff leads the SEC in ERA in league games, owning a 3.24 staff ERA, with Arkansas second in the league at 3.38 ... Auburn's starting pitching has been a big reason for that as the trio of Derek Varnadore (4.32), Will Kendall (3.27) and Daniel Koger (2.25) have a combined 3.30 ERA while the bullpen is even better at a combined 3.12 ERA in 34 2/3 innings from a combined nine relievers.
