AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn will play a pair of midweek games in its final tune-up for SEC play as the Tigers travel to Kennesaw State on Tuesday then return home to face Alabama State on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. CT Tuesday at Kennesaw and 6 p.m. Wednesday at home.
The Tigers (9-6) earned their first sweep of the season over the weekend, taking all three against Mercer at home and running their home winning streak to five straight. Kennesaw State (10-8) split a four-game series with Columbia over the weekend, and Alabama State (15-4) swept a conference series with Alcorn State and will face Troy on Tuesday before coming to Auburn Wednesday.
Redshirt sophomore RHP Justin Camp (2-1, 2.55) will get the start Tuesday at Kennesaw State. Camp will be making his third start of the season with all having come in mid-week games. He pitched 6.1 innings in the Tigers' loss to Alabama last Wednesday in Montgomery, giving up three runs on nine hits and striking out four in a no-decision. Camp will face Kennesaw State LHP Chris Erwin (1-0, 3.52), whose last start came Feb. 28 against Gardner-Webb, when he gave up one run on six hits and struck out eight over five innings to earn the win. Erwin has made three relief appearances since then, giving up just two earned runs over 5.1 innings out of the bullpen.
Auburn split two meetings with Kennesaw State in 2013 with both teams winning on the road. Kennesaw State took a 9-2 win at Plainsman Park on Feb. 26, and Auburn returned the favor with an 8-3 win at Kennesaw on March 12.
Auburn and Alabama State have yet to announce their starters for the second meeting of the season between the teams. Alabama State took a 9-3 win in Auburn's home opener on Feb. 19.
Van Riggs will have the call of Tuesday's action at Kennesaw State, and Riggs and Joe Beckwith will provide the broadcast for Wednesday's game with Alabama State. Tuesday's game can be heard on WGGZ 94.3 FM, and Wednesday's game is available on WANI 98.7 FM/1400 AM in Auburn.
