Auburn Baseball Notebook: February 18
Feb. 18, 2013
OVERALL--4-0 LAST WEEK--4-0 THIS WEEK TEAM NOTES * All four of Auburn's wins were come-from-behind wins, something Auburn did just nine times in all of 2013 * Auburn's offense hit a combined .312 for the weekend, collecting 12 doubles, a triples and two home runs ... The 12 doubles already pace the SEC while the .312 batting average is fourth * Preseason All-America Ryan Tella hit .357 and drove in a team-high six RBI * Junior catcher Blake Austin threw out two base stealers over the weekend, giving him 22 for his career, ninth-best in Auburn history ... Next on the list is Kirby Clark (1995-96), who threw out 26 * Auburn's 1.75 team ERA is sixth in the SEC and is led by Daniel Koger (5 IP) and Conner Kendrick (3 IP), neither of which allowed an earned run on the weekend * Sophomore Chase Williamson picked up his first career win on Sunday with 3 1/3 innings of one-run relief while junior Jay Wade picked up his first career save
* Head Coach John Pawlowski is now 138-103 (.573) in his career at Auburn and needs just eight more wins to become the third-winningest coach in Auburn history by wins * Auburn will look to go to 5-0 for just the 14th time on Friday when it opens up the Auburn Baseball Tournament against Middle Tennessee State ... The last time Auburn was 5-0 was in 2001 when the team started out 13-0 ... Other teams at the Auburn tournament will be the College of Charleston and Indiana State. |
