AUBURN, Ala. -
Hunter Morris was named the Preseason All-SEC First Team designated hitter while teammates Brian Fletcher and Joseph Sanders were both named to the Second Team by SEBaseball.com on Monday. The same organization picked Auburn to finish fifth in the SEC West, the same spot the league coaches voted Auburn to finish in coach John Pawlowski's first season.
Morris has already been named to the Baseball America and Rivals.com Preseason All-SEC First team while it is the first such preseason honors for Fletcher and Sanders.
Morris hit .351 as a freshman for Auburn en route to being named the SEC Freshman of the Year.
Sanders, a junior, hit .348 as a utility infielder last season and was voted the second baseman for the SEBaseball.com second team. Fletcher, a sophomore and a SEC All-Freshman Team selection last year after hitting .324, was named to one of the four outfield spots on the second team.
In the race for the SEC title, Auburn was picked to finish fifth in the SEC West with LSU claiming the West title and Georgia the East title.
In a vote of the league coaches released on Monday by the conference office, Auburn was picked to finish fifth in the West with the same two teams being picked to win their respective divisions.
Auburn opens its season on Friday, Feb. 20, at home against Elon. First pitch is scheduled for 3pm CT.
