    Auburn Weekend Home Events To Proceed As Scheduled

    AUBURN-Despite inclement weather in the Auburn area on Friday, the home athletic events on the Auburn University campus this weekend will be held as regularly scheduled. Those events include the Auburn baseball Fan Day and Strike Out Cancer 5K on Saturday and the women's basketball game versus LSU on Sunday at Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum. Should the status of these events change, notification will be made on AuburnTigers.com.

    The Strike Out Cancer 5K will begin Saturday at 10:45 a.m. CT at the right field fence of Plainsman Park on Donahue Drive and will be preceded by a Kids Fun Run at 10:30 a.m. Late registration will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

    Awards will be presented to the top three male and top three female overall finishers for the 5K and to the top three finishers in each age group. Registration fee the day of the race is $20. Cash or checks should be made payable to the Diamond Dolls.

    All proceeds will benefit the East Alabama Medical Center in honor of Mary-Louise Pawlowski, daughter of head coach John Pawlowski.

    As part of the inaugural Auburn Baseball Fan Day, following the 5K the Auburn coaching staff will hold an on-field youth clinic for fans 12-and-under while the team will sign autographs on the field. In addition, inflatable games will be available for kids along with an appearance by Aubie.

    The women's basketball team will host LSU Sunday at 3 p.m. Fans are asked to step into the "Pink Zone" by joining the teams and both coaching staffs and wear pink. Tickets are just $5 and are available on the Internet at AuburnTigers.com, by phone at 1-800-AUB-1957 or at the door on game day.

    The Tigers are proud to announce that ALFA Insurance has returned on as the presenting sponsor of the event and has offered to donate $1 for each of the first 5,000 fans in attendance to benefit the Joy to Life Foundation. As part of the game day festivities, the first 1,500 fans will receive a "Pink Zone" T-shirt from ALFA Insurance. Fans will also enjoy a halftime performance by the Red Panda Acrobat and a post-game team autograph session.
