AUBURN, Ala. -
Auburn's Josh Donaldson was named the Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball, it was announced on Monday morning.
Donaldson had a monster three-game opening-weekend series against Hofstra as he cracked three home runs, two doubles and drove in 11 RBIs as he went 7-for-13 (.538) at the plate. He had a 1.385 slugging percentage for the weekend but was also spectacular defensively, throwing out two Hofstra would-be base stealers and picking another off first from behind the plate.
Donaldon's three home runs during the first two games put him in very elite company as he joined Tim Hudson ('96), Dominic Rich ('00) and Karl Amonite ('05) as the only Tigers to hit two-or-more home runs during the first two games of the season since 1993.
Donaldson and the Tigers return to the diamond on Tuesday afternoon at 3pm CT against Lipscomb.
