AUBURN, Ala. -
Auburn sophomore outfielder Mike Bianucci has been named to SEBaseball.com's Preseason All-SEC First Team, the website announced on Monday morning.
Bianucci, who was also tabbed a Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American and is on the Wallace Watch List as a national player of the year candidate, returns for his second year on the Plains after hitting a team-leading .359 with eight home runs and 31 RBI in 45 games in 2006. Last season he split time between third base and designated hitter for the Tigers and was voted First Team All-SEC at the conclusion of the year by both the coaches and SEBaseball.com.
The Tigers, who are entering their third season under the direction of head coach Tom Slater, open the season on Friday, Feb. 9, at 3 pm CT against Hofstra at Plainsman Park.
