AUBURN  Welcome to Day 4 of Auburn spring football practice. Mark it down as a spirited one, at least for offensive line coach J.B. Grimes.

He put his players through their paces in a loud way Monday.

A few other observations…

The field goal kicking unit, in years past, has usually had its way against the defense in the early stages of practice. The defensive line usually leaned into the offensive line, and a few guys would raise their hands as if to block the kick. Those days are over. There's more pressure. It's all business for Gus Malzahn.

The quarterbacks ran the offense for a series of short passes. Should we make much of it? A walk-on quarterback was on defense. It's April 1. It's the fourth practice. So, no. Still, here were some of the passes, in order:

Jonathan Wallace to Sammie Coates
Kiehl Frazier to Corey Grant
Frazier to Melvin Ray
Wallace to Cameron Artis-Payne
Wallace to Coates
Frazier to Patrick Lymon
Frazier to Coates
Wallace to Tre Mason
Wallace to Ray
Frazier to Grant
Frazier to Coates

Check back for post-practice reports.
