AUBURN, Ala. - Former Auburn soccer player Kristin Stewart and current Auburn football player Zach Gilbert were the special guest speakers at Loachapoka Elementary School's Summer Day Camp on June 4 and June 11. Both Kristin and Zach spoke on developing good character traits and how participating in sports can strengthen your character.

Kristin asked each student why they thought having good character is important and asked them to define the word character. She told them that treating others with respect and following the Golden Rule are two very important traits of character. Kristin completed her degree in Business in May of 2006 and is currently enrolled in Auburn's MBA Program.

Zach told the students about an experience he had in 4th grade when a former teacher told him that he wouldn't amount to anything in life. Zach, who will graduate from Auburn this summer, encouraged the students to set goals and told them that they can be anything they want when they grow up.

The 70 students who are participating in Day Camp ranged in age from pre-school to eighth grade. Both Kristin and Zach led the group in a big "War Eagle" at the conclusion of their speeches.
