    Auburn, Ala. - Approximately 100 high school students and their family members attended Auburn's second annual Journalism Day on Sunday.

    Journalism Day, hosted by the Auburn University Athletics Department and the Department of Communication and Journalism, introduced students from across Alabama and Georgia to behind the scenes action that sports media encounter at sporting events.

    The students were welcomed by Auburn's Athletics Director, Jay Jacobs, prior to attending a workshop taught by Dr. John Carvahlo, Auburn's Director of Journalism.

    The students also attended the Auburn versus Georgia women's basketball game, where they had the opportunity to interact with the working media. Their press access allowed them to conduct post-game interviews with Auburn head coach Nell Fortner and members of the women's basketball team and gave them an opportunity to participate in an article writing contest. The winning article will be featured on www.auburntigers.com.
