TOWSON, Md. - Auburn track and field junior Marcus Popenfoose has been selected to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America Division I men's and women's track and field/cross country teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

Popenfoose is a Human Development and Family Studies major from Huntley, Illinois that holds a 3.80 grade point average (GPA).

Popenfoose was the 2013 SEC Shot Put champion with a throw of 62-2.25 (18.95m). He advanced in the same event to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, where he placed 16th overall to earn second team All-American honors.

The junior is a third team selection and is one of only three athletes from the SEC to receive the honor. He is joined by David Triassi (Florida) and Anton Kokorin (Arkansas).
