AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn track and field team will head to Austin, Texas for the Texas Invitational on April 14-15. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m. on Friday with the men’s hammer throw and finish on Saturday with the men’s 4x400m relay at 3:30 p.m.
The Auburn men’s squad enters the week ranked No. 19 in the latest USFTCCCA polls, while the women rank 25th. The Tigers currently have five athletes with marks that rank in the top-10 in the nation, including freshman Akeem Bloomfield who ranks third in the 400 meters with a 45.47.
Last time out, the Tigers posted 11 event wins and 13 personal bests at the Tiger Track Classic. Freshman Brenda Kigen broke the freshman record and also set the Hutsell-Rosen Track facility record for the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:34.59.
Senior Kahlil Henderson posted the nations fifth-best time in the 200m with a time of 20.47. The four-time All-American also ranks second in the SEC. Auburn has four total athletes that rank in the top-10 in the SEC in the 200m with Henderson, Teray Smith (6th), Nathon Allen (9th) and Randall Ceneus (10th).
