AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn track and field team will send four athletes on the road this weekend to the 90th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas and to the Stanford Invitational. Christopher Stone and Jessie Johnson will compete in the Texas Relays Mar. 29-Apr. 1, while Redatu Semeon and Veronica Eder will travel to Stanford, Ca. for the Standord Invite Mar. 31.
Last time out, Johnson won gold in the women’s pole vault at the Florida State Relays with a vault of 13-6.5/4.13m, which is tenth nationally and second in the SEC. The three time All-American holds the Auburn record in the event with a 14-6.25/4.43m, set last season.
A decathlete, Stone competed in three events at the FSU Relays. The freshman finished sixth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.34 before finishing ninth in the discus with a 128-9/39.25m. Stone ran 52.71 in the 400m.
Redatu Semeon will make his first appearance since the 2016 SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships, competing in the 3000 meter steeple. Semeon finished third in the event at the 2015 SEC Outdoor Championships.
After earning All-SEC honors at the 2017 SEC Indoor Championships in both the 3,000m and 5,000m, senior Veronica Eder will open the outdoor season in the 10,000m at the Stanford Invitational, set to kick off on Friday night. Eder’s personal best of 34:17.59, in the event, currently ranks fourth all-time in Auburn history. The Pennsylvania native finished seventh at the SEC Outdoor Championships last season.
The 90th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays are set to begin on Mar. 29. The Longhorn Network will provide 14 hours of coverage for fans to watch on television, with 11 hours of live coverage. Fans can also watch the meet live online this year at espn3.com or through the WatchESPN app. Live results from the meet will be provided online via BranchSportsTech.com.
