Three Auburn track and field athletes qualify for NCAAs

AUBURN, Ala. – Three Auburn women track and field athletes have qualified for the 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships held at the Albuquerque Convention Center at the University of New Mexico March 14-15. Juniors Valentina Muzaric and Samantha Scarlett along with freshman Marshay Ryan qualified as they finished the indoor season with a top-16 score in the nation.

After finishing fourth in the 60m hurdles with a personal best time of 8.21 at the SEC Indoor Championships, Scarlett will enter as the 16th seed. Scarlett has posted four of the top-10 times in school history in the event and won the 60m hurdles title at the Auburn Indoor Invitational and Vanderbilt Invitational.

Muzaric will be the eighth seed at the NCAA Championships in the shot put after a career best throw of 17.10m at the SEC Indoor Championships, to finish second in the event. Muzaric claims the eight longest throws in school history and has broken the school record in the shot put twice this season.

Ryan enters the championships as the sixth seed and is the highest seeded freshman in the triple jump. The Chambersburg, Pa., native placed fourth at the SEC Indoor Championships with a personal best jump of 43-5.25/13.24m.

ESPN3 will stream the meet live on March 14 starting at 6:55 pm CT and March 15 starting at 6:50 pm CT. A tape delay of the championship will air Saturday, March 22 starting at 5:30 pm CT on ESPNU.
