AUBURN, Ala. -- The Auburn track and field team opens the 2014 indoor season on Saturday as it hosts the Auburn Indoor Invitational Opener at the Birmingham Crossplex.
“The indoor season is always a short, quick season,” Auburn head coach Ralph Spry said. “We will try to keep things simple this weekend, using it as a starting point to gauge where we are at and build from that moving forward. It should be a great meet with a lot of excellent competition, including several Southeastern Conference teams.
Auburn athletes that are scheduled to compete in the one-day meet include: 2013 SEC Indoor Champion shot put winner Stephen Saenz, 2013 All-SEC shot putter Valentina Muzaric and 2012 NCAA Indoor All-American and Birmingham native Keenan Brock.
“I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of our young newcomers perform as well as some of our key veterans," Spry said. "We’ll be tested early, but we’re looking forward to getting the season started.”
A total of 58 athletes from Auburn are scheduled to compete. The meet will include 12 teams competing, including six SEC schools.
