LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Auburn cross country junior distance runner Brenda Kigen wrapped her cross country season with a time of 20:44.2 in the women’s 6k on Saturday at the NCAA Cross Country National Championships held at the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.

“I was really pleased with Brenda’s effort today,” assistant cross country and track and field coach David Barnett said. “She would have liked to have finished higher, but was in the top half of the most competitive field in the country. We will build on this success and be ready for track season.”

Kigen crossed the line in 102nd place out of 255 competitors. For the season, the Eldoret, Kenya, product had three top-five finishes, including a fourth-place finish at the NCAA South Regional that garnered All-Region honors.

The Auburn cross country season has concluded. The track and field indoors season kicks off on Jan. 12, 2018, at the Commodore Invitational in Nashville, Tenn.
