AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn women’s 4x100 meter relay highlighted day one of the 123rd Annual Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., advancing to tomorrow’s Championship of America.
In the prelims of the women’s 4x100 meter relay, Dominique Bullock, Jonielle Smith, Natalliah Whyte and Jenae Ambrose ran a 43.87 to advance to tomorrow’s 4x100m Championship of America. Their time ranks ninth on Auburn’s all-time performance list.
Sashel Brown got things started in the first event of the day, finishing second in the women’s 400 meter hurdles championship. A senior from Kingston, Jamaica, Brown ran a 57.47 in the first heat of the event to take second. She posted a personal best in the event last weekend at Hutsell-Rosen Track with a 56.20.
In her first trip to the prestigious Penn Relays, Ivana Muzaric posted a 172-3/52.52m to win the the collegiate women’s discus. Brianna Heilsnis won the collegiate women’s hammer throw with a personal best 198-1/60.38m.
The Tigers will return to action at the Penn Relays tomorrow beginning with the prelims of the men’s 4x100 meter relay at 12:35 p.m. CT, followed by the women’s 4x100m relay Championship of America Invitational at 1 p.m.
The Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Fla. is set to kick off tomorrow at 12 p.m. beginning with the women’s pole vault.
