AUBURN, Ala. – Brenda Kigen broke the freshman record in the 3,000 meters on day two of the Tiger Track Classic at Hutsell-Rosen Track on Saturday. Kigen’s mark of 9:34.59 also set the Hutsell-Rosen Track facility record, previously set by Veronica Eder at the Tiger Track Classic last season. On the day, the Auburn men and women combined for 11 event wins and 13 personal bests on Saturday.

“Today was a really good day for us as a team,” Auburn head coach Ralph Spry said. “We had some really strong marks that should be some strong times nationally and our team really competed well overall. We will look forward to building on these marks next weekend in Texas.”

Freshman Akeem Bloomfield continued to impress in the men’s 400 meters, winning the event with a time of 45.47. Bloomfield’s time currently ranks second in the nation and eighth in Auburn history. Sophomore Randall Ceneus finished second in the event with a personal best 46.24.

In the women’s 400m hurdles, senior Sashel Brown posted a personal best 57.04 to win gold. The Jamaica native moved up to fourth all-time at Auburn for the event.

Seniors Kahlil Henderson and Teray Smith finished first and second in the men’s 200m. Paired in the same heat, Henderson finished with a 20.47 while Smith posted a 20.58. Sophomore Jenae Ambrose won the women’s 100m with a personal best 11.60.

The Tigers dominated the relays at the Tiger Track Classic, winning the men’s 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay and also the women’s 4x100m relays. Henderson, Smith, Raheem Chambers and Wellington Zaza won gold in the 4x100m with a time of 39.56. Smith, Bloomfield, Nathon Allen and Ceneus teamed up to take gold in the 4x400m, finishing in 3:09.29. On the women’s side, Ambrose, Brown, Dominique Bullock and Jonielle Smith finished in 44.63 to take gold in the 4x100m.
