AUBURN, Ala. – Veronica Eder set the school record in the women’s 3000-meter with a time of 9:19.91 to lead Auburn track and field on the final day of the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. The Tigers set nine personal bests on the day.
Eder’s mark breaks Holly Knight’s previous record of 9:20.56, which was set in 2011. The senior’s time also ranks as the ninth-best in the nation and second in the SEC heading into the weekend.
“I was very please with our overall effort this weekend, but I am extremely proud of Veronica Eder,” Auburn head coach Ralph Spry said. “This was an extremely tough meet, but Veronica’s school record was definitely the highlight. We also had a lot personal bests and I can really see a ton of growth in our team so far this season. We just have to continue to build and compete to the best of our ability.”
In her first collegiate 400m, senior Sashel Brown finished fifth, with a time of 54.79. Brown’s mark moves her into eighth on Auburn’s indoor top performers list.
Mark Rubalcaba moved into a tie for eighth all-time in Auburn history in the men’s triple jump with a personal best jump of 50-2.75/15.31m. The sophomore from Las Vegas finished fifth for the Tigers in the event.
Raheem Chambers finished fourth in the men’s 60m with a time of 6.68 seconds in the finals after running 6.71 in the prelims. The freshman ranks eighth all-time in Auburn history. Junior Odean Skeen ran a 6.66 in the prelims of the 60m before being scratched from the final.
Auburn track and field will return to action on Friday as the Tigers head to Lincoln, Neb. for the 42nd Annual Frank Sevgne Husker Invitational. The two day meet will be held at Bob Devaney Sports Center.
