14 personal records highlight Auburn's day 2 at the Bob Pollack Meet
Randall Ceneus set a personal-record en route to winning the men's 200m
Jan. 27, 2018

CLEMSON, S.C. – Auburn track and field athletes established 14 personal records on day two of Bob Pollack Meet on Saturday, giving the team 24 total for the two-day event.

“I thought it was a really great competition,” Auburn head coach Ralph Spry said. “We certainly got a lot better. We had probably five or six nationally-ranked marks. I’m really proud of how we competed against the type of competition that was here. I thought we responded very well, and I think we are right where we need to be right now.”

The men’s 4x400m relay team of Randall Ceneus, Josh Burks, Nathon Allen and Akeem Bloomfield put on a performance for the record books as they finished in first place with a time of 3:06.60, the second-fastest time in school history and the fastest since 2005.

Ceneus also picked up a win all to himself in the men’s 200m, finishing with a personal-best 21.03. Natalliah Whyte also established a personal best in her respective 200m sprint, finishing second with a time of 23.38.

Distance runners Presley Weems, Katie Brooks Boone, Frances Patrick and Emily Mills each established new personal bests on Saturday, Weems and Boone doing so in the 600m while Patrick and Mills did so running the 600m.

Men’s distance runners Wesley Pectol, Wesley Curles, Silas Kipngetich, Jack Rogers and Tommy McDonough also had personal records in the men’s 3000m.

Jakayla Hand continued her impressive 2018 season in jumps, finishing second in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 12.63m.

Chris Stone, competing in Lubbock, Texas, at the Texas Tech Classic, finished ninth in the men's heptathalon with 6964 points.

“We’ve got a couple things where we need to continue to get better, but for the most part we are really running well in the sprints right now, and I’m excited about that,” Spry said. “We now have a chance to take a couple weeks off then come back to Clemson. We’ve just got to stay healthy and keep building off these last couple of weeks. It should be pretty exciting.”
