NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Three athletes set new personal bests as the Auburn track and field team competed at the Vanderbilt Invitational on Friday at the Vanderbilt Student Recreation Center.
Sophomore Coren Crompton placed fifth and set a PR in the pole vault after clearing 15-7/4.75m, besting his previous height of 4.60m set at the 2013 Virginia Tech Elite Meet. Junior Victoria Bernardo recorded a new personal best and finished 15th in the weight throw, with a distance of 48-4.5/14.74m.
After a jump of 22-4.50/6.82m, sophomore Parker Shearer finished eighth while setting a new personal record in the long jump, beating his previous record of 6.53m. In the men’s high jump, senior DJ Smith placed third with a height of 7-0.50/2.15m, improving off of his performance at the Auburn Indoor Invitational in which he cleared 2.09m.
In the women’s long jump, freshman Marshay Ryan recorded a top-5 finish with a jump of 19-8.25/6.00m, while sophomore Taylor Duncan placed fifth in the women’s 5000m with a time of 17:15.10.
The Vanderbilt Invitational will resume on Saturday as 21 events are scheduled with action getting underway at 10:30 am CT. Live results are available at www.cfpitiming.com.
