HOOVER, Ala. -
The Auburn cross country team will run in its third meet of the season on Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Great American Cross Country Festival at Spain Park in Hoover, Ala. This marks the first year that the event will be held in Hoover. The men will race an 8K beginning at 8:20 a.m. CT, while the women will race a 5K beginning at 8:55 a.m.
"We are still trying to figure out our varsity teams as far as who will be the sixth and seventh runner," head coach Pete Watson said. "From all I have been told, the course is quite tough so we will not be looking for times, but for placings."
A total of 18 teams will competing on the men's side, while 23 women's teams will compete on Saturday.
The Festival will be a one day event, with all events taking place on Saturday. The Great American meet includes 23 cross-country races, and features Nike's Great Races of America for high schools and college, a Saturday night Harrier Ball as well as celebrity athletes.
