BEIJING, China -
Former Auburn track and field athlete Marc Burns of Trinidad and Tobago placed seventh in the finals of the men's 100-meter dash Saturday at the Olympic Games.
Burns, who had equaled a season best with a time of 9.97 seconds in the semifinals earlier in the day, posted a time of 10.01 in the finals. Usain Bolt of Jamaica won the race with a world-record time of 9.69 seconds.
This is the third Olympic appearance for Burns, who competed in the 4x100-meter relay in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and ran in the 100 meters and the 4x100-meter relay at the 2004 Athens Games. He was disqualified in the opening round during his only previous appearance in the 100 meters at the Olympics.
